Any rash?: Is there redness or rash with the itching? A yeast infection could be one of the problems if there is an associated rash. Otherwise heat and friction may be the cause. Cortisone type cream may relieve some of the symptoms. Try wearing loose fitting underwear and trousers in case heat and friction are the causes. If there is a rash try an antifungal cream before consulting a dermatologist.

Drug Reaction: It sounds like you may have had an allergic reaction to the medication.  Is it getting any better?  You should report your symptoms to the prescriber of the medication.  You can take Benadryl (diphenhydramine) now to decrease the itching.

Antifungal creams: Most "jock-itch" is a superficial fungal infection of the skin in the groin area. If this is the case, many athlete's foot remedies will work here as well.  The ones to try first are lotrimin ultra or Lamisil (terbinafine) cream.  If it is because of yeast infection, use Nystatin cream.
