i always put my baby to sleep on his back, but he rolls over onto his stomach.  he knows how to roll both ways.  can i leave him on his stomach?

Sleep: If he is older than 6 months i would not worry too much about the problem of sids. If he sleeps on his stomach, no harm done. If he is a newborn or slightly older you might try swaddling him.

Sleeping: By  five months she has become mature enough so that you dont have to worrr about sids also there is less of a problem of sids during the summer months.

Should be fine.: Thanks for your question.  Our necks are very flexible and so can move in many directions quite safely.  As long as a person is putting their head in a certain position all by themselves, the position is typically safe.  Trouble occurs when we place infants in positions that force them into unnatural postures.

I wouldn't bother: By the time a baby hits 6 mo and rolls over in sleep they have passed the most vulnerable period for sids. I would not bother with waking them and flipping them back. I would continue to put them down on their back but leave the rest to them.

Solid food: You can help her by starting baby cereal ,It will help with spitting . Generally rice cereal is first one to introduce , and breakfast is a good time .

Variable: Babies can flip themselves off a changing table at birth, but this is more accident than developmental. A few can start to roll as soon as 3 months, most by 4 and is delayed if not by 5 mo.

Runner-stroller: Manny big stores carry the so-called runner-stroller (big wheels) designed for faster speed, thus you can use to push your infant along while running/exercising. Just make sure you find a path that is relatively smooth. You can also do treadmill, stationary bike, infront-of-tv activities at home while baby is asleep. If there is a will, there is a way--and u have the will. Consult doc. Good luck.
