i have a burning sensation in my upper right thigh this has been going on for almost 9 months and started after i had double pneumonia and was given 400mg avelox moxi floxacin hci tablets while i was on the medication the pain in my legs got so bad i quit

Not Avelox: Medication problems do not choose just to affect one area, or one extremity.  This problem could be hip or spine (especially the 4th spinal nerve).  You should see your primary care 1st.  Rj.

OTC Meds as well: Abx, help fight the infection, but sometimes doesn't make one feel better right away. I have my patients also use Mucinex (guaifenesin) to loosen the mucus as well as saltwater rinse. This combination works well for my sinus patients along with the antibiotic.

Possibly: If the sinus infection is bacterial, the Avelox should do the trick, assuming the causative "bugs" are susceptible to avelox. Sometimes infection takes full course of antibiotic to clear. However, the infection may be viral, in which case antibiotics don't work. Try salt-water nasal spray and a decongestant to relieve pressure & promote drainage. If getting worse, see doc again for re-evaluation.

Avelox: Some are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, heartburn, loss of appetite, headache, weakness, dry mouth, sores in mouth/tongue, sweating. Serious ones are allergic reactions, shortness of breath, confusion, changes in mental status.

Avelox &urethritis: Yes it can be used and is effective in  non gonococcal/non specific urethritis.

Accepted Answer

Avelox: The half life of Avelox is 12.7 hours.  It takes 5 half lives to clear the medication from your body.  Thus, in 63.5 hours 99.9% of Avelox is out of your system.  The side effects should resolve after 63.5 hours.

just started taking avelox monday little after that i am getting spasms in lower abd only when i lie down i do not think im preg. any suggesions?

UTI?: If your taking Avelox...was it for a bladder infection?  And if it was for a bladder infection its fart more likely its spasm than pregnancy.

Accepted Answer

Yes: Antibiotics used to treat legionaires' disease include erythromycin, azithromycin, tetracycline, doxycycline, levofloxacin, ciprofloxacin, Moxifloxacin and clarithromycin.

i have a wicked cough do to a sinus and bronchial infection. i have them on avelox.

Avelox should help: Avelox is an effective antibiotic and should help but it doesn't work overnight.Try using a cough syrup for the cough and a decongestant for your sinus.Avoid decongestants if you have BP or cardiac issues till discussed with your md.
