A Stitch In Time...: If he exhibits a lot of pain in that area or if he is reluctant to use that arm or if the skin feels warmer than the other arm or the swelling increases then have him examined by a doctor. Sounds like he bumped or otherwise injured that area or an infection is brewing so if you have any doubts about it, get him checked sooner than later.

The m-chat or modified checklist for autism in toddlers is a screening tool for possible autism.  Drs use this tool in toddlers from 12-18 mos of age. If an infant has developmental delays- they need referral to a specialist to confirm diagnosis.

The ultrasounds : Don't increase risk of autism. At 35, the risk of genetic errors increases; screening tests are done in the 1st & 2nd trimester.Ask what the specific concerns were about organ development. The structure that becomes the brain & spinal cord started  forming 3 weeks after conception & other organs soon thereafter. Detecting an anomaly is easier ~ 16-18 weeks, so expect more fus's & other tests.

Not yet: However, researchers are trying to find ways to cure them. Schizophrenia can be maintained well on medications. They are also making advances in communication skills for autistic people using computerized technology which is very hopeful.

Treatable ???: Mild autism is approached with supportive care. A child behavioral specialist can often help you or the professionals at school by teaching the skillset needed to coax the best out of the kid. These professionals often work with child development centers or school special needs programs. I would contact the special services personnel at your school to find help.

There are genetic links that run in families, so in that sense there is greater likelihood of ending up with autism or something related if one or more of your biological parents has it. By some yes,: Autism can present so many different levels of severity. Impaired social skills, impaired communication, impaired relationships can present in different degrees in different people. From my perspective, some with partial symptoms, not enough for a formal diagnosis, still can benefit from treatment to improve.
