Yes.: These are two different rhythms.  Atrial tachycardia is an abnormal rhythm originating from either the left or right atrium.  Junctional tachycardia is an abnormal rhythm originating from the av node.  Neither is more dangerous than the other.  The treatments will be different, usually.

There are many: causes of atrial tachycardia in a young person but most likely this is a physiological response to some form of stimulation. Anxiety, excitement, dehydration, fever can all be associated with this. The aberrant conduction is a reflection of normal physiology if the heart rate is fast enough or could represent a minor abnormality of the conduction system.

Yes: Avnrt is due to an extra electrical pathway in the junction between upper and lower chambers that your born with.  Whereas focal at is acquired and usually due to some scarring.  Both ca be managed medically or potential cured by catheter ablation.

Why not: Atrial tachycardia is common in people. When we get excited, frightened, run or do something strenuous. In most cases it will not interfere with our job related activities if it is mild. If you have another kind of tachycardia, then you need to give us a more definite diagnosis.

Stress and lack of sleep can contribute. It occurs for no recognized reason in some.

Very little!: Rapid heart rhythm can have many causes.  The most important difference is between those starting in the ventricles, v tach or v fib, which are often rapidly lethal, and those starting in the atria and/or av junction, which cause symptoms but are rarely fatal. The regular rapid rhythms atrial tachycardia or av junctional tachycardia can be hard to separate and are treated similarly.

It thus may compound atrial tachycardia in a partially additive way. Yet, more commonly what happens is that the brain induced rate ↑es simply over-ride the AVR induced rates. Best optimize NMR lipoprotens, HbA1c (best ≤5.0%), get a quality echocardiogram &amp; review images carefully!

Sinoatrial node.: The normal heart rate "pacemaker" center is in the sinoatrial node, a part of the right atrium. Ectopic atrial tachycardia means that the pacemaker region (the part that is setting the heart rate) is in another location, &amp; is acting erratically. Atrial tachycardia implies that it is the sinoatrial node that is acting erratically. They are similar, but the heartbeat starts at different points.
