Recommend GYN eval.: The main reason for light periods is change in hormone levels. Causes for what seems to be a light period can include: thyroid problems, eating disorders, excessive exercise, initial periods for a girl, use of an intrauterine device, oral contraceptives, perimenopause &amp; implantation bleeding in early pregnancy which rarely occurs.

heavy periods, clots size of two quarters. cramps all the time. i bleed so much. i go through 2 pads at one time. medine don't work. is this normal ?

Lots of options: You will need to see your obgyn for an exam and testing. Depending on your age and fertility plans there are lots of treatment options.  Birth control pills can regulate your cycle. Mirena (levonorgestrel) or Sklya IUDs can eliminate or minimize your periods. Lysteda is a great new hormone free drug used to stop heavy periods.

Unprotected sex risk: There is always a chance that having unprotected sex with or without ejaculating, with or without Plan B, and with or without 6 and 12 day periods can result in pregnancy. That's the only thing anyone can GUARANTEE about the natural order of men mating with women.  All the rest is a crapshoot and just depends on how much risk you're willing to take for either your or someone else's pleasure.

Irregular periods : Irregular periods are one of the most common problems obgyns treat. If this is one time problem it usually resolves on its own. If this is a recurring problem you should be evaluated. Infections &  hormonal changes can cause spotting. If there is a concern for pregnancy then do  a home pregnancy test .  There are many options available to help regulate the menstrual cycle. Schedule a visit.

Burst clot?: May be a huge clot from excessive menstrual blood; however, I suggest a full GYN exam and if sexually active, a pregnancy test and hormonal ( including thyroid)  testing. Please explained exactly what you mean by burst clot.

No: I tell people about 80% of people tolerate the Mirena (levonorgestrel) well and about 20% don't. If you have tried antibiotics, sonograms to look for other problems or misplacement, and have other options, i would take it out. Who wants to hurt all the time?

Get evaluated: The marina iud is expected to lighten your periods. If your menses are now heavier that indicates that the iud might not be in place or might not be working anymore, or that there is some kind of abnormality of your uterus that's causing bleeding . Either way you should be evaluated by your gynecologist. You can start by checking your strings.

is it normal to have long heavy periods (11 day) after treatment for breast cancer.  i don't take any medication as i was triple negative. ?

No: Long, heavy periods can occur at any time but it is not normal after treatment for breast cancer. If you received chemo for your triple neg cancer then periods usually go away. Heavy bleeding means you need to see your gynecologist for evaluation.

Maybe: Sometimes when you don't have periods for a long time and your ovary keeps producing estrogen, the lining of the uterus may become quite thick.  When your period finally comes, it could be quite heavy because you are getting rid of all that thickened lining.
