Sinusitis?: Chronic sinus inflammation can cause both a runny nose and nosebleeds.  You should see your doctor about this.

ENT: If your nose bleeds hold your nostrils between fingers for about 10 minutes.  Sit up ; hold your head ; neck forward so the blood doesn’t just flow down your throat. If you are able to – place a moistened cotton ball over the area that is bleeding.  If you can’t control the bleeding after 20 minutes – seek medical assistance. You may need to see an ear/nose/throat specialist if you have chronic &gt;.

Nasal anatomy: Bloody noses are very common especially in people who have septal deviations or enlarged superficial blood vessels in the very front of their noses. It is a simple thing for an ENT doctor to fix. Contact an ENT doctor and they should be able to cauterize it quite easily and solve your problem.

Bloody Nose:: Blood comes from ''plexus" of capillaries at anterior nasal partition where ext. ; int. Carotid capillaries converge. Causes: digital trauma from rubbing, dry cold air, inflammation, sinusitis, allergic rhinitis, too much use of nasal steroid, etc. To stop: sit up, lean forward, pinch nose x 9 min, cold compress. He is rubbing right side more causing unilateral bleeding. See ENT if too much.

Depends: Some common reasons can include: nasal congestion or nasal dryness, high blood pressure & excessive use of decongestants. Being at a high altitude, trauma to the nose, picking the nose, or blowing the nose hard. Bacterial and viral infections can increase the risk as well as bleeding disorders.  There can be recurrent nose bleeds if a small vessel in the nose is broken. Alcohol or Cocaine abuse.

Moisture: Saline rinses help to cleanse but only moisturize for 15-30 minutes.  Sesame or olive oil drops are good moisturizers since nose bleeds usually from dryness.  If Aspirin consider stopping it if ok by md. If this doesn't help see ENT as there may be other causes such as septal perforation, vasculitis, meds, etc.

A few things: Sinus infection, high blood pressure, blood thinners, problems with nasal anatomy, etc. Can cause bleeding. Addressing any of these can help. Otherwise, avoid trauma (aggressive nose blowing, picking) and moisturize with otc saline spray and vaseline. Basic treatment: pinch nostrils, lean head forward, use decongestant nasal spray (afrin) only for severe bleed. See an ENT doc if it does not stop.

Bacterial &amp; viral infections can ^ risk as well as bleeding disorders.  Recurrent nose bleeds may be due to broken vessel in the nose. Alcohol / cocaine abuse can cause nose bleeds, as can tumors.

See below: Assuming you are otherwise in good health and not experiencing bleeding/bruising elsewhere, this is likely a problem confined to your nose.  If an area of nasal mucosa breaks down and exposes a small blood vessel, it will bleed repeatedly.  I would see your physisican or an ENT physician to have the area examined and possibly cauterized.

Weather...: Use nasonex (mometasone) nasal spray......daily in AM.At bed time use dab of bactroban ointment at to each nostril...gently paint inside.
