Not likely.: It's not likely. And i hope not! responsibly treating someone with anti-depressants requires first, a reliable diagnosis that is determined by a detailed history, and second, careful followup to be sure the medicine is working and evaluating that medicine for possible side effects. Most walk-in clinics don't have the time to do that. Their practice model is faster turnover.

Cleaning wounds: Flushing a newly formed wound with copious amounts of clean water is the most sensible answer. If you had some medical 'grade' Normal Saline that was sterile to flush the wound that would be theoretically a better situation.  Do not use toxic substances such as hydrogen peroxide -- these kill good healthy cells in the wound base.

No: Human bites are prone to cause infection because the human mouth is full of bacteria.  Animal bites can also cause infection, frequently with bacteria that commonly colonize the animal's mouths as well.  These bacteria are frequently different than those in the human mouth. Some animal bites can cause rabies which does not occur with human bites.

Yes: Depending on the animal, they have often been rooting around in the dirt, and may have tetanus spores in their mouth and oral secretions.Tetanus can easily enter a bite as it would any other cut.

It depends on which type of animal and the circumstances of the bite to determine how much risk there is to the patient. The best thing is to see a doctor as soon as possible after an animal bite.

Yes, but...: A tetanus shot prevents only the bad effects of a tetanus infection. The shot does not prevent an infection from the other bacteria that animals carry in their mouths. Thus, if an animal bites through one's skin, a doctor can evaluate to see what treatment may be needed. Be sure the animal is one who does not, or is not likely, to carry rabies (because rabies is fatal).

Animal bite: Animal mouth and teeth contains a wide spectrum of bacteria. When you are bitten, the wound can get infected and becomes red and swollen. It is called cellulitis at the bite site. If the bite is deep, you likely need to go see a doctor so it can be cleaned and treated appropriately. Rabies and tetanus risks are needed to be evaluated and treated too. Ibuprofen can relief some pain and swelling.

Portal for virus: Breaking of the skin is usually required to transmit the rabies virus. However, this can be sometimes be difficult to ascertain, and since the virus is deadly, it is safer to get proper treatment sooner than later. Saliva from an infected animal carries the virus, so if that got into a previous wound or eye, that could allow the virus to gain entry.
