hello, i am healing from anal fissure since 2 weeks and following the home treatment regime. how long should i avoid playing some sport (badminton or basketball). is there a chance that fissure might reopen? also, do fissures ever heal permanently?

: Regular exercise and sports shouldn't aggravate a healing or healed anal fissure but the bearing down like you're straining to have a bowel movement does. If you don't require such a straining motion during basketball or badminton, these activities should be ok for you. On the other hand, weight lifting would be a no no!

Such goals can be accomplished by taking daily fiber supplements and/or using laxatives. Sitz baths, during which the rectal area is immersed in warm water for 10-15 minutes, are also therapeutic and should be done 2-3 times per day. Sitz baths are available in most drugstores.

Depends: First line treatment is a high fiber diet, plenty of fluids and possible a laxative to keep your bowel movements soft.  Warm baths. 
If persist, prescription antispasmodic cream
if persists, Botox or surgery in form of sphinterotomy
the above order is also depended on the severity, persistency, recurrence and appearance of your fissure
if your symptoms are severe and persist see a colon and rectal.

Fair: Nitroglycerin ointment has been around for about 12 years for anal fissure.  It leads to healing in about 2/3 of patients.  About 20% of patients stop treatment due to headache.  Many colon and rectal surgeons have gone to other medications such as compounded 0.2% Diltiazem which has similar success rate with fewer side effects.

Chronic: or recurring anal fissures should be studied since they may be associated with inflammatory bowel disease! Assuming this work-up is negative a steroid (cortisone) Cream may be very helpful!
