Stop taking it: If you get a rash from penicillin, you should stop it immediately.  You can take Benadryl (diphenhydramine) or another antihistamine like Claritin or zyrtec.  If you insist on not taking any medication, then a cool shower or oatmeal bath may help with the itching.  In any event, if you have any breathing problems, you need to go to the er.

Time: If not a severe reaction it will dissipate in time. You should see however if it was an allergic reaction or not. In some cases , when given for viral illness one can get a rash and not be allergic. This would be important to know. Can see an infectious disease doctor or allergist to help with this.

IT IS SAFE: Penicillins which includes Amoxicillin are related structurally to cephalosporins like omnicef, (cefdinir) and a result of that there is a cocenn that child may be allegic to Omnicef (cefdinir) as well.
But many studies have looked at if cephalosporins can be tolerated in patients with penicillin allergy, and these studies show a low risk of reaction to cephalosporin, except 1st generation like keflex&ancef
omnicef is ok.

Infection?: Since she didn't finish her full course of antibiotics, it's possible that the ear infection is still there.  Please see her Dr. ASAP

MGt: The allergic reaction to Amoxicillin can still be the cause of this rash, but a new drug allergy is also possible. He should be treated with an antihistamine. Is he experiencing any respiratory problems? If so, please see the ED right away. It is important to contact your PCP.

Yes: This usually happens with the initial sensitization which may take about 10 days to manifest. The reaction from subsequent exposure will likely be much faster.

Depends: Some allergic reactions like a simple rash are more cosmetic than worrisome and not as important as major hives or swelling of lips and difficulty breathing. The more intense the reaction the more important it is to avoid the trigger group. If a cillin med were the best choice in a major infection, an allergist could do some specialized work to desensitize the patient and make use safe.
