To MD if not better: This is unlikely to be altitude sickness but if symptoms are severe or not resolving see a doctor. It is more likely that this represents an acute gastroenteritis. It would be uncommon for someone to develop such severe symptoms with the altitude in Denver. Shortness of breath on exertion would be more likely. This sounds like a virus.

Not familiar: With 'acetak'.  Typically hace is treated with Diamox (acetazolamide) 250mg twice to four times daily beginning 24-48hours before ascent.  Needs to be prescribed by a physician.  Have fun and be cautious.

Safe descent: The best treatment for altitude illness or altitude sickness is to decrease one's elevation by at least 1000 ft (quickly and safely.) if symptoms do not improve, one needs to descend another 1000 ft. If one has symptoms of hace (high altitude cerebral edema) or hape (high altitude pulmonary edema) contact search and rescue and arrange for emergent air evacuation.

Brief Summary: This is a sulfa medicine and mild diuretic. Normally start 12-24 hours ahead of time. Causes tingling limbs, change in taste, ; can cause blurred vision and dry mouth with other rarer side effects. Works best as preventative. Higher dose needed to treat once have mountain sickness. If ill with significant altitude sickness, go down to lower altitude or risk serious illness and possible death.

Be Cautious: Climb slowly: let your body acclimate
climb high, sleep low—sleeping at lower altitude then you have spent the day hiking lets body adjust
hydrate
if ill with headache, nausea, irritable, feeling hung over—go back down. Altitude can be fatal.
Consider Diamox (acetazolamide) to prevent altitude sickness—talk to  travel/ wilderness provider. It does not make you bullet proof ; still respect signs of sickness.
