Benadryl (diphenhydramine): Take 25-50mg of benadryl, (diphenhydramine) and stop the offending antibiotic.  See your physician as soon as possible to get an alternate agent, and to let them record your allergy.

could i have an allergic reaction to cold water?

Accepted Answer

Not really: An "allergic reaction" involves an allergen sticking to an allergic antibody, and water molecules are too small to do that. However, some people have "aquagenic urticaria" or "cold urticaria" which results in hives every time they come in contact with water or cold things like air or water. If it only happens some of the time you contact cold water, it' probably something else. See an allergist.

Blisters: It's difficult to tell without seeing it. Here are some possible reasons: infection, contact dermatitis, poison ivy, shingles, or herpes simplex.

See a dermatologist: An exam is needed to determine if  you need oral therapy. You probably will benefit  from a calcineurin inhibitor such as tacrolimus ointment. .1% is better than .03%. When you call, indicate that you need to be seen today. Also you need to confirm your diagnosis in case something else is causing your distress.

Blisters: Delayed-type chemical sensitivity caused by blood cells that have become allergic can cause skin blistering reactions. A good example is poison ivy sensitivity.

Unlikely: First you need to tell us what kind of bad reactions you have been experiencing?  I have however never heard of anyone having an allergic reaction of any type from water in a styrofoam cup or straw.  Give more details and you will likely get a better answer.

Bumpy hives: It could be an allergic reaction or a rash from the febrile illness itself, or perhaps any medication given for the illness.  Report this to your doctor for advise on how to proceed.

i'm currently having an allergic reaction from ky lubricant my boyfriend and water help flush away the reaction, what should i do?

Contact Doc: You likely have a contact allergy to the KY lubricant and topical cortisone for vaginal use would likely be the appropriate medication.  However you will need to contact your GYN to get examined or a Rx.   Do realize that yeast infection can produce itching as well.
