my sister committed suicide from a drug/alcohol overdose. i know it depends on the drug(s) & amount of alcohol. would this been a painful death?

For obvious reasons: We don't wish to opine on means of suicide in a public forum. This question would best be asked of the coroner who consulted, or your own personal physician. Every suicide is painful, if not for the victim, then to varying degrees by the survivors. Best wishes.

Depends...: Dying of acute alcohol poisoning, as in the case of a youngster playing drinking games, is probably painless but is a terrible waste. Dying of the long-term effects of alcoholism involves either serious brain damage or the nausea, itching, and disfigurement of liver failure. Those who die of alcohol hurt others in the process and after. Thanks for choosing to use it wisely or not at all.

would it be a painful death if i intook 2-5 times more alcohol into my body than the limit ?the legal limit being 80mg on 100ml of blood.

Etoh &amp; death: If you drink a sufficiently large amount of alcohol you will eventually become unconscious and "blank out". Of course, before you actually black out you may have engaged in some outrageous foolish activity which could lead to your demise. Alcohol is not a good anesthetic but it does screw up your thinking and memory.

I : I want to be very specific in addressing your question, to insure you know that i can not tell you the cause of the man in question's death.  The best way to determine cause of death is by an autopsy. Here is some general information.  Usually a blood glucose level over 400 is considered a medical emergency.   Alcohol contains sugars.  Thus ingesting alcohol can increase blood sugar level.  When a person's blood sugar is rising over 400, their risk for developing a  diabetic coma or death increases.

Yes: Alcohol withdrawal occurs when you have been drinking more than a few drinks on a regular basis for about a week or more and then try to stop suddenly. The body reacts to the absence of alcohol. Dt's or delirium tremens starts to occur 2-3 days into withdrawal. Death could be related to seizures, dehydration, or any number of other consequences.

irritable pink/redness round the eyes (mostly eyelids).  worse after exercise/sweating.  also after alcohol they get much worse.  causes dry/dead skin?

Stop the alcohol: You may be allergic to something that is touching your eyelids (new nail polish, perfume, makeup) if your family or you has a history of hayfever, asthma, allergies or ezcema-it could be ezcema. You need to see a dermatologist. Until then stop all makeup, nailpolish, perfume. An otc jydrocortisone ointment 1% may help till then.

How much is too much: A male should generally drink no more than three alcoholic beverages on any one day (one 12 oz beer, 4 oz wine, 1 oz hard liquor) and no more than 14 drinks in a week. For a woman these numbers reduce to two drinks per day and no more than 7 per week. More than this can cause problems with the liver, heart, brain, and other organs over time.

432 days sober and im craving alcohol again. is this possible? why? its like im back on day 1 but i havent touched a drop in over a year. please help. any inside would be appreciated.

Recovery: Congratulations on your success.  Yes, the craving you mention is possible but so is staying sober.  Please talk to an AA sponsor if you have one and attend meetings online.  They can be very effective.  Peace and good health.

: Substance abuse tests are designed not to be passed if you are being tested for that substance and you are abusing. Otherwise, what's the point of the test?

Alcohol: Alcohol calories are usually carbohydrates. But these are unneeded and not nutritional carbohydrates. So, when the liver sees this much sugar they make triglycerides, or fat storage molecules.  Thus this sugar is made into fats that can be dangerous.
