i have terrible allergies and i usually take alavert but it doesn't seem to be helping me anymore what allergy medicine do you suggest will work?

Nasal?: For nasal symptoms, a nasal steroid will likely work better but may take a few days.

24 hours: Alavert is approved as a once daily antihistamine.

Yes: Albuterol can cause a rapid heart beat, particularly if you use too much.  If it is disturbing you, your doctor can use other alternatives.

i've been feeling very dizzy lately, i have allergies so im guessing the dizziness is from that. i took benadryl (diphenhydramine) allergy, alavert nothing seems to work?

Dehydration: U might be a little dehydrated and the allergy meds dry u out even more.  I would try some Gatorade or a little salt in ur water.  The other possibility since u have allergy problems is either an ear or sinus infection or even just fluid in ur ears

can i take tylenol (acetaminophen) with alavert allergy/ sinus? the alavert has 5mg loratadine and 120mg pseudoephedrine sulfate.

That's Fine: No issues taking these medications together.

suffering from horrible allergies and can not sleep. tried otc alavert as well as  zyrtec (cetirizine) - the most recent @ 3pm. can i also take oxycodone to sleep?

No: Oxycodone is a narcotic for pain.  Although it may cause drowsiness in some people, it is not used for sleep.  Furthermore, the doctor who prescribed the oxycodone should be alerted because he must have ordered it for pain.  If the allergies are horrible, please consult an allergist.

what a good cold, flu or allergy medication out there?

Many choices: There is no magic pill out there and it all depends on what symptoms your are trying to treat. A decongestant for a cold or flu is available is many different combinations over the counter under different brand names. Look at the ingredients, Pseudoephedrine is a good decongestant avilable in combination with other medications. For allergies, a non drowsy long acting antihistamine is allegra (fexofenadine).

can you give a baby under 1-year-old allergy medication?

Probably not: I occasionally use Benedryl in a infant if they get hives with a food reaction. Beyond that, antihistamines have little use in early childhood. Small nasal passages, environmental irritants (fumes, dust, smoke, etc.) and mild infections cause most of the congestion in infants. Antihistamines provide no benefit to these kids.

can i give a child allergy medication in between doses of cold medication?

Cold & allergy: You need to read the contents of the cold medicines. Soem already  have  allergy medicines inside of them as well. You shouls take your medicines you usully use for cold and the allergy medicine to your  docotor and have him/her tell you how to use them if at all, in combination.

i'm worried because my boyfriend got high by taking a lot of his allergy medication, what are the risks, what do you suggest?

Not Safe: Overdosing on sedative antihistamines to get high is definitely concerning and should be addressed. Taking too many of these pills can alter your cognitive and motor function and can be similar to driving drunk if he gets behind the wheel of a car.
