Try his book for it: If you both were pleased with his help on smoking, continue with his ideas on alcohol. Why switch from a winning strategy? The size of the glass matters of course and the issue of compulsion does too. So does her size, activity level, consumption w/ food, etc. But read his book - it's available to buy online. Best

There is hope: There are a multitude of systemic and liver based therapies that can treat bowel cancer both in the eu and us. . Survival is a function of will, tumor biology and cancer physician resources/expertise. Shun those who don't think outside the box.

Professional help.: When you engage in self- harm that likely means that things in your life are unmanagable. Unfortunately self- harm is not a healthy way to cope.  Entrusting yourself to the care of a good psychotherapist would be beneficial.

If you are meeting with a psychiatrist, tell them what is going on and find out what they recommend you to do. Maybe you can't: But it's worth a try.  Few suggestions - make foods you know she likes. May consider spicing a bit more heavily - but not too much on the salt.  Try different textures. Try multiple small meals throughout the day.  Use ice cream based drinks. Ensure there is no jaw pain, weakness, constipation, abdominal pain, urinary tract infection or swallowing difficulty.  Sometimes this happens at end of life.

Grieving: Remember that we all die.  Those that are grieving may need support and encouragement to go on, but time is the great healer.  Most of us recover fairly quickly and within months are better, but if this persists, counseling may be helpful from friends, clergy, psychologists, etc.  Try and find meaningful substitutes for your loss and try and imagine how the one you lost would want you to recover.
