NSAIDS: Aleve is naproxen and advil is ibuprofen.  Each has their own potential benefits and you could take them together but there is no need to, and all you would be doing is increasing the incidence of side effects.

do you treat pre flu symptoms with ibuprofen and acidomidaphine every 2 hrs alternating?  no cough no nausea no sore throay.  fever of 102 and body aches.  pt is 6 yrs old

Flu-like symptoms: Strictly limit the use of these two together in any patient, particularly a 6 year old. Acetaminophen can be very toxic to the liver and the two together are unnecessary. Children tolerate fever quite well and unless they are very very uncomfortable there is no need to treat it. Please be careful.

i have the worst flu i can remember and 400mg advil (ibuprofen) isn't cutting it for aches. would it be okay to take a vicodin left over from a recent surgery?

Yes: yes, that would be safe if you tolerated the drug before. Keep in mind that Vicodin contains acetaminophen, so don't add extra acetaminophen to it.

It depends: To me, sore and ache are the same.   I can tell from personal experience, my whole body hurt but Motrin or tylenol (acetaminophen) helped significantly.

Unlikely: You may have another viral infection.  The most common  symptoms of influenza are cough, fevers, chills, muscle and joint aches. The symptoms can last 7-10 days. There are treatments by prescription that are effective if started early in the illness. Get a flu shot each year to prevent influenza.

2nd or 3rd opinion: No - I think it is important to try and get to the bottom of your symptoms - that would be the best way to figure out a plan to get better. Sometimes you need a 'team' of doctors and I wonder if you've seen an ID specialist? Different doctors think in different ways, and I think you need a specialist or 2 to help out. Hope your primary doc can get the ball rolling here...
