Hives: The allergic reaction may go on for days after discontinuing the medication. Taking an antihistamine like benadryl(may cause drowsiness) or claritin(nondrowsy) should be helpful,however.

One medication ...: Usually i like to change one medication at time , that way if allergic reaction occur , i can figure out  what  has caused it.

Anxiety driven hives: Hydroxyzine is a reasonable intervention given that it works fairly well for anxiety.  There are no known drug-drug interactions between Adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) and hydroxyzine (Vistaril/Atarax).  But if you find sedation from hydroxyzine to be a problem, you may consider trying cetirizine (Zyrtec).  It shouldn't have the calming effect of hydroxyzine but may treat the hives all the same.

Could be: Urticaria or hives could be caused by an autoimmune process.  Arthritis can also be caused by an autoimmune process so therefore there could be a connection or a common denominator between the two diseases.

Accepted Answer

Depends on cause: A/u due to bee, hornet, wasp, fire ant sting can be cured with allergy shots. The patient gets the venom causing a/u in a series of injections. When the allergen can be identified - drug, food, pet, plant - complete avoidance "cures" a/u but accidental exposure results in more symptoms. In 50% of anaphylaxis & 90% of chronic urticaria the cause if never identified so cure is not yet possible.

Cholinergic Hives: Individuals may experience a cholinergic urticaria reaction in response to any activity that increases overall body temperature (or causes a sweat release).  Some examples include:
taking a hot shower or bath
eating spicy foods
exercising or doing physical activities that increase body temperature.

See Allergist: There are a number of treatment options for severe hives/swelling. First line is high dose non-sedating antihistamines like Zyrtec followed by H2 blockers like Zantac (ranitidine). Montelukast can also be used as well as sedating antihistamines like hydroxyzine or doxepin. If these therapies fail there are more aggressive treatments like omalizumab, anti-inflammatories, and immunosuppressants. See Allergist

Yes and maybe: If the slimming diet is healthy and balanced, no. If it is lacking in certain nutrients, or is being assisted by laxatives or diet pills, then yes. Any stress on the body (including the metabolic stress from a bad diet) can produce hives, but so can many other conditions, such as allergies, so be on the alert for food or environmental allergens. is it technically correct to categorize cholinergic urticaria as a physical hive? i am uncertain because it is triggered from things like emotions.

Yes:  emotions can precipitate swearing, and sweat is the problem rather , not the heat, hope the treatment works, and hope that you have spontaneous recovery soon
