Need an MD: You may have something intestinally. There are certain medications that may cause metallic tasting to linger for many months. See a gastro-enterologist as soon as you can for in depth evalaution.

i have acid reflux for the past week i've had a metallic taste in my mouth.  sometimes i feel a little queasy i've lost weight and changed my diet.is that a side affect of having acid reflux?

: Very possibly yes. Please seek medical specialist care as soon as possible.  There are some very unpleasant consequences to having the shincter muscle at the top of the stomach not close properly.  The regurgitated stomach acid is extremely irritant and will definitely change the way things taste.

Perhaps: Could also be caused from other medications.  Galvanic reactions from dental restorations.   Best to see an internist and dentist (if new dental work performed).

: In addition to medication avoid spicy and oily foods,aspirin, anti-inflammatory meds like ibuprofen or naproxen. Also  avoid alcohol,nicotine,excess caffeine. Try coating the esophagus by taking a liquid combination of antacid&amp;antigas,recommended by your pharmacist, 1/2 after meals and at bedtime. Are you taking the maximum dose of the ppi?  Is a gastroenterologist involved in your care?

Antacids/PPIs: You can try antacids or ppi meds like Prilosec if you are not currently taking any. If you are and the symptoms of your reflux aren't improving then see a doctor. Parsley oil supplements can help with bad breath from stomach issues.

Reflux or Impaction: It is possible that it is acid reflux.  It is also possible that you have some food impacted in your esophagus.  If there is something impacted in your throat you may be at risk for perforating your esophagus and that can be a severe condition.  Many other things, including a cold, can cause a bad taste and sore throat.  I would recommend that you be evaluated by a medical professional .

i have chronic bitter/hot taste in my mouth for couple years. i believe it is acid reflux or something similar, even though it is very rare for food to come up. are there any home remedies to ease that? specially to remove the taste?

Bitter taste: I have recommended trying the taking of vitamin B12, bathing your tongue with maalox or applying glyoxide drops on the tongue to treat this symptom. I have also seen a few patients with intractable symptoms and referred them to the department of oral surgery at a dental school for evaluation and treatment.

Acid suppressants: Take acid suppressants and drink anything you want.

been using bipap for 4 yrs and now have no taste or smell. stomach bloated and feel sick in stomach every day. also have acid reflux & take pepcid 40mg twice a day.thanks?

: A coordinated care between your pulmonologist or cardiologist and gastroenterologist besides your family doctor is recommended. Your problem is somewhat complex to be addressed in this limited forum. Take care and good luck to you.
