i had root canal treatment on my front tooth last april 7,2015. and now nearly one month and sensitive to cold. the sensitivity goes on the root of tooth and can not use to bite food because its painful. is it normal? thanks

See your dentist: It is not normal to have thermal sensitivity on a tooth that has been treated with root canal therapy. There may be something else amiss.

Varies: Usually if a tooth has become infected in the nerve canal, then it is hard to place a time frame on when the tooth will "die."  some teeth actually die and never abscess, the roots being naturally filled in or calcified.  If there is a question of symptoms, then you may want to have it checked out before you start developing more severe symptoms- pain, swelling, etc.

Yes and no: If the root canal was done, one would not feel pain until the abscess extends into the surrounding tissue and bone.

Ask the dentist: You may need an implant, or it may be possible to place a crown if the infection has entirely cleared.  But must be certain that there is no underlying chronic bone involvement.

Possibly: So hard to say without visualizing the tooth, knowing the current condition of the tooth, and having a current as well as a final fill radiograph. No source control: Recurrent infections are at times, caused by inadequate removal of the source of infection. I'd be worried about an infected root canal, infected bone  (osteomyelitis), and infected tissue that's too far gone for antibiotics to work. The abscess needs to be drained otherwise, complications like meningitis can occur.

Failure?: that means ether abscess was not treated properly before the root canal treatment,or the root canal treatment was not successful,and led to recurrent infection .
Proper examination needed to determine the condition and treat it weather by re treatment for the RCT,or extracting the tooth and replacement options discussed.
