my 5 week old baby has been bottle fed recently instead of breastfed bc i take pain meds for csection pain. his pampers have been full of a green poop but not watery and white specks could be formula idk. what is normal poops for bottle fed babies?

Normal poops: Baby BM's can be yellow, green or brown. Where breastmilk feeding babies have liquidy, seedy poops, formula fed babies may have more pasty or thicker poops. Sounds like your baby has normal poops.

Not uncommon: Breast fed babies can poo a little every feed or a big blow out once a week.If soft, it is normal. Most formula fed kids will get into a several daily or every other day pattern.

Depends: Depends upon diet breast vs. Bottle. Also depends upon infant's abdominal size, vomiting, etc. I would take baby to dr though. Have to consider mechanical or hormonal (thyroid) issues.

Normal: This is very normal and common. As long as the baby is eating well (breast-feeding or bottle feeding) and having plenty of wet diapers, this is not a problem. If the baby is very uncomfortable and it lasts 3-5 days, you can give some extra water and make sure if you are nursing, that you keep up with drinking enough fluids yourself. If it goes on longer, please speak to your baby’s doctor.

my 4 week old baby has a cold.  blocked nose,coughing and is throwing up mucus with her milk. she does not have a fever and is drinking very well. her sleeping pattern has not been affected and she is giving 5 wee diapers and 3 poo diapers every day?

Continue feeds: Monitor temperature and if her rectal temperature is 100.4 F or higher, please see your pediatrician for additional testing and evaluation.  Nasal saline drops/coo air mist and gentle suction may be used to reduce post nasal drip and to open nasal passages. Infants breathe through their noses and congestion may result in distress. Please see your pediatrician.

1 month old, formula feed infant has dark green poop that smells like skunk (sometimes stringy looking)...baby is gassy as well. is this normal?

Could be: The first thing I would want to make sure is that your child is gaining weight appropriately and thriving.  If that is the case, there are numerous things that could be of help, such as different formulas.  That decision can be best made with your child's doctor who will know what formula your child is and/or has been on.  Good luck.

Poop Colors: The color of stool is not usually concerning, as it reflects a lot of things we eat. Dark black, red or white stools are the only colors that are worrisome.

Fussy: If you are bottle feeding the green stool can be due to the iron in the formula or he may be developing a viral gastric infection try a feeding of pedialyte to settle his stomach.

If you must: The stool color is determined by the changes to ultra green bile as the food is processed. The longer it stays in, the more it changes through yellows or browns. Green just means quick passage. Loose stools are not a problem as long as baby is vigorous &amp; otherwise thriving.

12 week old baby was on novalac aminova started changing her to novalac allernova as per dietician and no change in baby while she was on both but now that she is only on allernova her  poo is dark grey/green and runny is this cause for concern?

Not really:  The color of stool represents the dark green bile added from the liver to food debris as it passes through the system. It then can change to lighter green. yellows &amp; browns as germ action in the gut alters the bile. A final greenish usually means material has moved through more rapidly.
