Viral diarrhea: Your child has a viral illness. He could be crying because of intestinal gas accompanying the diarrhea or he may be starting to teeth. His bloody nose is coming from mucus that has eroded his blood vessels in his nose. Use salt water nose drops for his nose.

If you must: The stool color is determined by the changes to ultra green bile as the food is processed. The longer it stays in, the more it changes through yellows or browns. Green just means quick passage. Loose stools are not a problem as long as baby is vigorous &amp; otherwise thriving.

TWO WEEKS...?: 2 weeks is kind of prolonged suffering. Viral gastro-enteritis resolves by 3-7 or 10 days. Take your infant to pediatrician to find out the cause.

In the mean time, give pedialyte, equal amount for each diarrhea. Can give some yogurt, lactose free formula.

i breastfed for 6 wks, then soy formula until he was 3 months. now he is on reg infant formula and has diarrhea. is he ok?  was it bad to switch?

Probably OK: It will probably be ok.  Stick with the same formula and watch for growth.  His bowels will probably adjust just fine, and as long as he is growing normally, don't worry.  Very few children actually need soy formula, they just aren't given a good trial on regular formula.  Spitting and diarrhea are common concerns, but changing back to soy usually does not fix these.

DIARRHEA: Infants with lbm, depending on age, below 3 months give pedialyte, rice water and soy milk. Below 1 year, aside from the above give the brat diet ( banana, rice , apple, tea) no juice. You can also give jello, sprite, 7up. There is a diet instruction you can get from the clinic.
