i have an 11 day old infant who screams and tilts her body as if she is being prodded by something in her abdomen. she will breastfeed for a minutes and starts screaming from gas, and constipation. i have been using breastmilk and formula to feed.

Many conditions : There are many conditions which may cause these symptoms. Among them are colic, reflux or an infection.

Constipation ?: A 2 mo that is breast fed can have a stool smear every feed or a diaper full once a week. If it is soft it is not constipation. I never see BF kids with true constipation. A formula fed baby that is passing hard rocks can be given an ounce of full strength prune juice 1-3X/day to get them moving. It takes 2-4 days for it to work.

my 2 month old baby has acid reflux and is using novalac ar but causes severe constipation stools is extremely hard and poos everyday by cries throughout the process what to do?

Prune juice: I like using full strength prune juice 1-2 oz given spaced out 1-3X/day. This works like a osmotic laxative because baby doesn't absorb all the fruit sugar.  It usually loosens them within 3 days at which point you can increase or decrease amount or frequency as you need.

my 2 month old baby had diarrhoea, i was feeding him both breastmilk and formula. then i stopped the formula and now he is constipated. please help.

Common with breast: milk to have constipation, don't worry, if you need to supplement, try a different brand of formula,introduce little amounts in the beginning then advance, if your baby is growing and passing urine fine, he/ she will be fine, keep following up with your pediatrician, good luck

Maybe: Babies' digestive systems do mature at different rates. When babies get constipated on solids, making some adjustments will often solve the problem. And sometimes, just forgoing the solids for a couple of more weeks is in order. Once babies are taking solids, water can be a nice everyday addition, perhaps around 2 ounces twice a day, to keep things soft and moving.

Yes: Infants swallow air with feeds &amp; this can contribute to sounds they make when the stomach mixes food or as it passes through the digestive process.

He'll Squeak By This: That's probably dead skin and it can take a fair while to slough off. Don't pull or pick at it. Just the usual bathing and time. At this point it shouldn't get infected or anything but if it does get red and inflamed or has discharge or bleeds, don't freak, just call your doctor. Also, if you squeeze your baby's belly and he squeaks via that area, then he'll be able to amuse himself real soon!

Constipated: If you are breast feeding your baby is probably not consmtipated. Breast fed babies can go as long as a week without having a stool. They also do a lot of grunting before having an actual bowel movement.If you are bottle feeding you can add a tsp of dark karo syrup to a four ounce bottle of formula.

Get baby checked: Constipation at this age is either diet related, i.e excessive dairy intake or some reason for them to hold stools like an anal fissure, for which a proper exam will be helpful. In the meantime, u can add more vegetables to his diet and give him Karo syrup or prune juice.

At that age, it's : Best to take her to her pediatrician if she has a rectal temperature of 100.4 or higher, rather than to suppress a fever.
