Did she get vaccine?: Most children get their routine vaccines at 2-month visit and one of the vaccines is rotavirus--oral vaccine which can cause significant diarrhea, can occur up to 11 days after getting it.
Otherwise, diarrhea in young children=common and if no fever; eating well, sleeping, just change diaper frequently and keep dry...It will get better. If fever/not sleeping/feeding etc.., see doc..Good luck.

Keep breastfeeding: Breast milk has antibodies that help reduce viral diarrhea length. There is no medication for diarrhea at this age. Keep buttocks covered in vaseline. However, exclusively breastfed infants will often have squirty mustard looking stools with chunks - often called diarrhea by those used to harder firm stools of formula fed stools. If this persists, make appt with MD to check weight and check health

See doctor.: Breastfed infants have stools that can look like diarrhea - they're on the runny side, can be yellow or green, with little "grains" of stuff in them.  Not the typical looking stool.  However, if you're concerned, you should see your doctor.  Especially if your daughter has a fever, is not eating as well, or not acting normally, and has not gotten their 2 mo vaccinations.

Possibly: It is difficult to make a diagnosis of an ear infection without examining the ear. Sometimes an ear drum will rupture and cause drainage from the baby's ear. An ear infection has been known to cause diarrhea. Have your baby examined to help arrive at a diagnosis. Give extra fluids to guard against dehydration which can be caused by fever and diarrhea. Common with breast: milk to have constipation, don't worry, if you need to supplement, try a different brand of formula,introduce little amounts in the beginning then advance, if your baby is growing and passing urine fine, he/ she will be fine, keep following up with your pediatrician, good luck

TWO WEEKS...?: 2 weeks is kind of prolonged suffering. Viral gastro-enteritis resolves by 3-7 or 10 days. Take your infant to pediatrician to find out the cause.

In the mean time, give pedialyte, equal amount for each diarrhea. Can give some yogurt, lactose free formula.

i breastfed for 6 wks, then soy formula until he was 3 months. now he is on reg infant formula and has diarrhea. is he ok?  was it bad to switch?

Probably OK: It will probably be ok.  Stick with the same formula and watch for growth.  His bowels will probably adjust just fine, and as long as he is growing normally, don't worry.  Very few children actually need soy formula, they just aren't given a good trial on regular formula.  Spitting and diarrhea are common concerns, but changing back to soy usually does not fix these.
