Go back: The current recommended standards for treatment would include two agents to start with (a cephalosporin and azithro or another drug to treat non-gonococcal urethritis).  Since antibacterial resistance has become a major issue you would be best to be seen by a doctor expert in the area of STDs.  Probably need culture and sensitivity.

Treatment options: In the US, Azithromycin (2g single dose) is considered to be a third line option for treatment, but overall is probably beneficial for treatment.  Ceftriaxone is first line (250mg single IM inj), followed by several other cephalosporins.

No: No, medications for animals are not at the same dosages as for humans.  You will likely under treat yourself and won't clear the infection.  Please go see your doctor for an evaluation.  Your doctor has treated sexually transmitted infections (STIs) hundreds of times.  As doctors we don't care that you have the infection we just want to treat it before something bad (tubal damage) happens.

STD treatment: This would be highly effective. The additional dose of cefixime (Suprax) wasn't necessary and didn't add anything

No: Current cdc recommendations for gonorrhea and chlmydia are a single dose of Ceftriaxone 250 mg (shot) and a single dose of Azithromycin 1g (by mouth). Instead of Azithromycin you could do Doxycycline 100 mg by mouth twice a day for 7 days. Treatment for pelvic inflammatory disease (more severe infection in females) cannot be done in a single dose.

Probably OK: It can take a week for gonorrhea symptoms to clear, especially if you also have chlamydia, present in almost half of people with gonorrhea. Your treatment (ceftriaxone and azithromycin) will cure both. But if these symptoms started only after treatment, it could be yeast triggered by the antibiotics. Return to the doctor or clinic if symptoms get worse, or if still there a week after treatment.

Gonorrhea: cured ?: If the bacteria which causes gonorrhea is not sensitive (able to "kill" the bacteria) then another antibiotic may be necessary.  Consult with your healthcare provider for other treatment, if necessary.
