Regular activity.: It unfortunately takes as long as it takes to go into active labor. You cannot rush these things. Regular activity as tolerated, including sexual intercourse unless prohibited by your physician (or mood), is reasonable advice. Patience is a virtue. Keep all prenatal care appointments. Good luck!

What is your due: date, any contractions? You could go another few weeks if not due, with these findings. If you are at your due date, you could discuss with your doctor, the potential or need for induction of labor.

Hard to say: Was a Fetal Fibronectin or Cervical Length Ultrasound checked? More information is needed. Did your doctor express concern for preterm labor? If you are having regular contractions every 10 minutes, vaginal bleeding or leakage of fluid, you should immediately go to labor and delivery.

Yes--it is possible: Being 4cm dilated and 80% effaced is a good place to start an induction all things being equal. It is worth noting that fetal station may also play a role.

A ways to go...: To deliver a baby, the cervix needs to dilate to 10cm.  It can still be a few hours after 10cm before baby delivers.  A women who has had several children can get from 3cm to delivery fairly fast.  If it is the first baby, it could take many hours (10 hours or a lot more).   If you are 3cm and not in labor, you are getting close to going into labor.  Best wishes!

Wait: 36 weeks is still early. It would be nice for the baby's development to wait for delivery if possible. Make sure you are drinking plenty of fluids and eating a healthy diet. It sounds like your body is getting ready for labor. Be patient and let nature take it's normal course. Good luck!

Sure.: Labor can start at any time and it is hard to say when exactly. There are no 100% sure signs to know. Isn't pregnancy exciting? It's almost over, no matter what.

Sex: As long as your doctor agrees and you have not broke your water regular sex  or gentle exercise or walking can increase chances to active labor. If your Obstetrician feels the need to stimulate labor medicines can be used. See your doctor as soon as you can.
