Superficial thrombophlebitis
Superficial thrombophlebitis is a blood clot is a vein lying just under the skin where it can be seen and felt. It most often officers in the saphenous vein of the leg a part of the superficial venous system. It also occasionally occur in an arm vein. Treatment usually is heat and anti-inflammatory drugs. Anticoagulants may be used if the vein is near the groin to prevent extension or embolus.
