Laceration of cervix
Cervix is latin for neck and may refer to many organs but it usually refers to the opening of the uterus into the vagina. Any trauma in this region including instrumentation or scoping or placement of an iud or agressive sexual practices may cause a laceration to the cervix with subsequent scarring. A pap smear is performed on the lining of the cervix.
