Rhizotomy
A rhizotomy is a procedure used to destroy nerve endings to prevent pain signals being sent to the brain. There are a variety of ways to accomplish this. Sometimes a doctor will use heat or chemicals to destroy the nerves. This is used for people who have not responded to more conservative pain treatments such as over the counter medicines or physical therapy.
