Transillumination
Transillumination literally means line shining through. This principle may be used to diagnose maxillary sinusitis as the light will be blocked by the sinus infection and will not glow in the hard palate. Indeed, this procedure should be done in the dark. Transillumination is also used in diagnosing hydrocephalus and in histopathology labs.
