See wikipedia for discussion of the flower under: oenothera. The evening primrose seeds contain oil which is a fatty acid. The oil. Contains 7 to 10 percent gamma linolenic acid and about 70 percent linoleic acid. Gamma linolenic acid is a precursor to prostaglandin pge1 (misoprostol) and thromboxane txa1. Pge1 (misoprostol) is involved in immune system regulation.
