The human body is pretty well protected. We can block disease agents by protective defenses in the nose, mouth, lungs, skin, gut. However, certain agents can get injected into us by insects. Mosquitoes, fleas, and ticks are the more common carriers of disease agents that get injected. Once the agent gets into our blood stream it can go directly to the brain causing encephalitis.
