Pneumocystis infection
Pneumocystis infection is an infection in the lungs caused by a germ called Pneumocystis carinii/jirovecii. Pneumocystic pneumonia usually only occurs in persons with a weakened immune system, such as HIV (AIDS) patients and organ-transplant patients.
