Herpes stomatitis
Herpes stomatitis is usually contracted by infants. Most of us will get it and then be susceptible to cold sores on our gums and lips. This is because the virus never leaves our bodies and can be triggered into becoming active by stress, hormones, sunlight, etc. The virus will follow a nerve ending out, which is random, and the reason they can appear in a variety of places.
