Distended stomach
A distended stomach results from air in bowel loops. Air in the colon can result in bloat. The passage of gas can relieve this. Air in small bowel is less common and is indicative of some other process such as obstruction or crohn's. This is more concerning and needs work-up. Motility disorders can also cause bloat such as gastroparesis which also needs to be evaluated.
