Diagnostic ultrasound
Diagnostic ultrasound uses sound waves to characterize tissues of the body and does not involve irradiation.The frequencies used in diagnostic ultrasound are typically between 2 and 18 mhz. Sonography images tendons, muscles, joints, blood vessels and internal organs (kidneys, liver, heart, spleen, bladder, ovaries, testes babies in utero. Brain ultrasound is performed in infants.
