Carotid artery disease is a condition that involves the narrowing or blockage of the carotid arteries. The carotid arteries are blood vessels located on the each side of the neck that provide the main blood supply for the brain. Risk factors include high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, and high cholesterol.
