A ruptured disk, also called a herniated disk, is a condition where a disk between two spinal bones has an outer weakness that allows the disk to protrude out. This can result in no symptoms, local inflammation and pain, the bulge impinging on a nerve, or weakness or lack of sensation in the part of the body that the nerve travels to.
