CSF herpes simplex virus 1 and 2 PCR
CSF (cerebrospinal fluid or spinal fluid) PCR (polymerase chain reaction) herpes virus is a lab test to look for fragments of herpes virus in the CSF. A positive test result suggests infection (meningitis or encephalitis in this case) with herpes virus.
