Lumbar facet injection
A lumbar facet injection is a procedure that involves directing a thin needle into a lumbar facet joint with the guidance of fluoroscopy (x-ray). Corticosteroids (such as depo-medrol or kenalog) plus a local anesthetic is injected. As a physiatry spine specialist, i typically only perform these on patients with newer facet joint pain, or those that need quick pain relief.
