Vasovagal syndrome
Vagal refers to the vagus nerve, vaso refers to the vasculature, or arteries. A reflex occurs between the brain and the heart, much like a shock absorber in your car, it dampens the impact of a speed bump or pothole. The vagus nerve does this for the heart rate and bp. When the heart works too hard, the brain tells it to settle down, through the vagus nerve.
