Patent ductus arteriosus
Patent ductus arteriosus describes a condition where there is an abnormal connection between the blood travelling toward the lungs from the heart and the blood travelling from the heart to the body. This connection between the blood vessels is normal during development of the baby in the womb, but closes soon after birth .
