COVID-19 and its corresponding stresses —  isolation, job losses, lockdowns — have had a dramatic impact on our mental health.

The number of American adults reporting symptoms of anxiety or depression rose as high as 40% during the pandemic. This is up from 10% of adults prior to the onset of COVID-19.

HealthTap doctors also saw an increase in patients seeking affordable mental healthcare. In response, we expanded our mental health services. Now, anyone can get support for mental and behavioral health in our virtual primary care clinic. Appointments are available seven days a week, and there’s little to no wait time.

In our clinic, we treat issues such as depression, fatigue, excessive worry, alcohol overuse, anxiety, insomnia, and work or school stress. Our primary care doctors can help in many ways: they conduct mental health assessments, develop treatment plans, and provide prescription medication and refills†.

You can choose your own doctor, book mental health visits when it’s convenient for you, and see the same primary care doctor for all your visits. Each visit is only $39 with a HealthTap Prime membership of $15 per month. You can use HealthTap with or without insurance.

To support HealthTap members looking for therapy and counseling, we also launched a partnership with Talkspace — a top-rated online counseling service. Talkspace therapists can pick up where HealthTap doctors leave off. HealthTap Prime subscribers get a $100 Talkspace discount. You can start Talkspace counseling on your own or get referred by a HealthTap doctor.

The pandemic has shown us that we need better and broader support for people experiencing mental health issues. HealthTap is answering the call by providing affordable, accessible mental healthcare to all Americans.

If you’re experiencing mental health issues, I encourage you to reach out and schedule a mental and emotional assessment with a HealthTap doctor, schedule a therapy call with Talkspace, or connect with resources and specialists in your community today.
