Possibly. For significant sore throat with swollen tonsils / lymph nodes – see physician ; get a strep throat test/ culture. If you have strep throat, antibiotic therapy is imperative to prevent future complications. Consider tylenol (acetaminophen) or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications. Saltwater gargles: mix 1 tsp salt in 8 oz warm water – gargle several times a day. Or gargle with aloe vera juice twice a day.
There is a lump behind my ear and since its been there I've had a sore throat and I am getting headaches. Its been more then a week. What is this and what can I do?
Lymph node. That sounds like enlargement of a postauricular lymph node, which can happen when you're sick with a sinus infection, which could explain the rest of your symptoms. Lump behind right ear with (rare for me) frequent headaches and sore throat. Lump doesnt hurt and is hard but I get a shooting pain in neck at times?
For the past week I've had a terribly sore throat, headaches and a cold. Is an ear block one of the symptoms?
Could be... "blocked" or "plugged ears" are quite common with colds and upper respiratory infections. Your eustacian tubes usually drain and ventilate your middle ear. These can get blocked up and swell just like the lining of your nose when you have a cold, and then your ear can feel blocked like when you fly/change altitude.
