In brief: Aneurysm rupture

The most significant risk you face is rupture of your abdominal aortic aneurysm, which would be life-threatening for you and the baby.
Elevated blood pressure is the most likely reason that your AAA would rupture at this point, whether the high BP is due to pain, etc. Fortunately, an epidural anesthetic can minimize the pain of labor and delivery, lowers bp, should be safe, and can be done early.

In brief: None from anesthesia

The diagnosis of a AAA in a 41 year old is something that should be watched closely over the next few years.
Let your anesthesiologist know about the condition, but the anesthetics we use will not affect the condition.

In brief: Aortic aneurysm

The risk of having an abdominal aortic aneurysm is that it can rupture.
An aortic aneurysm that ruptures is life threatening. Increasing the pressure within the abdomen which occurs when you are pushing may increase the risk of rupture.

In brief: Lower rupture risk

Your obstetrician, vascular provider and anesthesiologist will help manage your pregnancy and your aaa.
Depending on the AAA size and configuration, they will decide when and how to repair aaa, in relation to your pregnancy and delivery. Hopefully your AAA can be repaired much later. Continue to go to see your doctors.
