In brief: Lifelong sunblock
Keep your child free from excessive sun exposure.
She should wear long sleeves, hats, and use spf liberally. If family history is strong, regular skin exams by your pcp and/or dermatologist is a good idea.

In brief: Proper sunscreen
Some ? Increased incidance of various skin cancers in those with episodes of sunburn prior to 21 compaire to those after. Avoiding these issues in childhood makes sense.
A spf 15+ sunscreen for uv a &b when outdoor exposures are planned is part of a healthy lifestyle. Babies can be kept in shaded areas to avoid direct light, sunscreen must be reapplied regularly to be effective.
