Very low platelets can increase risk of bleeding - obviously could be dangerous.
Very high platelets (usually above a million) could increase risk of clots (strokes etc) & even bleeding in certain high risk pts with "myeloproliferative" disorder. The most important question is what is the cause & how high or how low. Sometimes platelets could increase because of iron deficiency or inflammation.
