Is Prevacid (lansoprazole) or Prilosec more likely to cause constipation?

The same. Generally, PPI medications such as Prevacid (lansoprazole) and Prilosec usually do not have any effect whatsoever on bowel movements. In fact, if they do affect them, it is usually more diarrhea than anything. Constipation is an extremely rare complication of either one. I would not worry. Good luck. Read more...

My daughter is 9 years old. She has gerd, 3 months back she was on Prilosec OTC for 14 days. But now she has again gerd. Can I give her Prilosec again or prevacid (lansoprazole). Please respond asap we are out of home?

Yes,but. You may want to do some other things to help her avoid symptoms. Caffeine in any form aggravates reflux, so avoiding beverages like tea or soda can help. Laying down within 1-2 hours of meals increases reflux or drinking more than a few ounces at bedtime can also.Avoid spicy foods or acidic fruit juices until well after she improves. Read more...
