When does most of the swelling go down after a breast reduction?

Breast Reduction. The major swelling secondary to brest reduction surgery usually settles within the first month but the breasts continue to settle as the scars settle over the next 5-6 months. If patients have had liposuction of the axillary area along with the breast surgery then further adjustment occurs within the first 3 months.
2 Months. The vast majority of swelling after breast reduction surgery will dissipate within 2 months after the procedure is performed. However, the breast will continue to change during the first 6 months to one year after the procedure was performed.
First 2-4 weeks. The majority of the swelling will go down in the first 2-4 weeks after surgery. However, some small amounts of swelling can last several months. It is usually best to wait at least 6-8 weeks before buying that new bra.
Weeks. Most will be gone by 2 weeks but can take longer.
