In brief: Fecal Exposure
The most common risk factor for roundworm acquisition is fecal contact.
Therefore, washing your hands will go a long way toward prevention of picking up this tapeworm parasite. It is treated with oral anti-parasitic medications. Also be careful with raw meats due to the same issues mentioned above.

In brief: Catching it
Transmission of round worms in humans depends on the specific type.
Trichinosis can occur from eating undercooked pork. Ascaris may be transmitted by touching feces (dogs/ cats/ poor sanitation). Pin worm can be transmitted when scratching the anus & touching others. Hookworms, strongyloides & whipworm may penetrate the skin when walking barefoot. Cook pork. Wear shoes, don't handle feces.
