What is the current opinion on hrt? I get very bad night flushes and moodiness (i am 51) but don't want to take a drug if it is risky.

In brief: Case-by-case

There are many helpful treatments for menopausal symptoms, and these are best reviewed individually.
That way, your doctor can look at your personal heath risks, including family history & make reasonable suggestions for you. Hrt is not a "blanket" treatment for everybody, but bioidentical hormones can surely help some. There are also botanicals that can help; some antidepressants too.
